The Shack
I am not one for reading novels, but Lorraine talked about this book so much that I thought I really should give it a go. I was immediately drawn into the story of the book as in the opening chapters the author tells the story of a man called “Mack” whose daughter “Missy” was abducted and murdered while they were on holiday. I have never identified more with anything than how the author describes the emotions that Mac had gone through and “The Great Sadness” that had by now consumed so much of his life.
Not having a great imagination either I was really at a disadvantage as the story progressed, but this book really gets you to “think outside the box” and question many of the preconceived ideas we have grown up with
I won’t tell you much more about the book but if you only read one book this year then this would be an excellent choice.
This book although not obvious from the start, is book of fiction and the reader needs to be careful to balance the content with the truth of scripture.
